Imagine you’re lying 3m above the ground, staring up at the star-strewn inky sky, with the steady chirruping of insect life and the low rumbling of elephants in the distance. Now picture yourself in the Timbavati Nature Reserve, home to the Big Five, in four-star luxury. You’re in a sleep-out called Giraffe’s Nest hide, which overlooks Xanatsi Dam, the perfect place for animals to stop by and slake their thirst.
The Nest has an eco-bathroom, comfortable chairs on the viewing deck and a bed made up with crisp white linen, enveloped in a mosquito net. Here you can expect all the comfort of the main camp, while perched in the tree canopy. It has a retractable canvas roof (in case it rains), as well as a locked door leading to the main area, so you can sleep under the stars and listen to the tranquil sounds of the bush feeling completely safe.

A guide will escort you there from Main Camp or Geiger’s Camp just before sunset and will leave you to enjoy a picnic dinner and a selection of drinks in your own private bush oasis. When the guide fetches you for breakfast back at the camp, you’ll leave feeling recharged and at peace with the world.
