Set in the serene waters of the magnificent Lake Victoria, Ngamba Island forms part of the Kome Archipelago. It is home to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary which was founded by Jane Goodall and is funded by the Uganda Wildlife Education Center, Born Free Foundation, Jane Goodall Institute. Visitors can look forward to a number of wonderful activities. Observe and interact with orphaned chimps, camp on the island, and take fishing excursions and sunset cruises. For many visitors, staying overnight in an East African tent is an incredible highlight, while others delight in the experience of being a caregiver to the chimps for a day.
