Situated on the northwest part of Mljet, Mljet National Park is a densely forested landscape that covers 5300 hectares of the northwest part of the island on the southern coast of Croatia. The park borders two saltwater lakes – Veliko and Malo Jezero - that stretch for four kilometres. Visitors can sail to a small island/islet Melita (Sveta Marija) and dine at a 12th-century building repurposed from a former Benedictine monastery to a modern cafe/restaurant. Things to do in the park include kayaking, cycling, swimming and strolling along the footpaths to sightsee.
