Persepolis is located in Iran's Fars Province, near the city of Shiraz. The site dates back to 515 BC and represents the Achaemenid style of architecture. First constructed by Darius the Great, the impressive ruins are built against the east side of Rahmat Mountain and on human-made terraces. Several ruins and remains include a grand hall named the Gate of All Nations, the Apadana Palace, tombs and the Throne Hall among other structures.
