Your hosts at Santa Clara will have an informal sit-down with everyone the first night and go over horse-back riding, hiking, a driven tour of the estate and anything else that they can offer. The estate offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and horse-back riding on their 50,000+ aces. Horses are super gentle and great to ride for beginners and experienced riders. Santa Clara will provide a guided tour by a seventh-generation family member who is an expert on the Estancia's unique history that is deeply rooted with Uruguay's inception and evolution through the years. Duration 1 hour or more
Non-hunters can meet the hunters for lunch one day at the "La Graseria". These historic ruins are located on property and are part of the Jesuit Trail. These buildings were once used for the making of tallow, when candles were used for the original lighting in Montevideo. Duration 2-3 hours
There is a 250-year-old park called the "represa" filled with birds, plants and old growth trees. It has a path that can be walked (approximately 30 minutes of easy walking), driven or enjoyed on horseback.
They offer a cooking class with Uruguay's first Master chef winner and Santa Clara's chef, Nilson Viazzo. He will be teaching closely guarded recipes of some local dishes or pastries. 2 hours
