The Don Diego River begins its journey in the rugged mountains of the Sierra Nevada jungle and flows all the way to the beaches of the Caribbean. Beginning as colliding streams and tributaries, the river builds to crashing rapids, followed by wide calm ribbons. Thick tropical jungle hugs the banks, eventually decorated by small coves of golden sand, and the ‘Don’ eventually opens out to the vast shore at the coast. Tours along the river combine various activities to soak in the surrounds - kayak past endemic flora and fauna, hike through the archaeological vestiges of a Tayrona town, and tube through dramatic currents. Along the way, lucky adventurers may spot howler monkeys and a huge array of native birds. At the beach, catch your breath, picnic and swim, before heading back upstream.
