Convent of La Popa is situated at the highest point of the city of Cartagena, Columbia. The convent dates back to 1609 and initially displayed a wooden chapel and the palm of the Popa. The convent was built due to the preaching of the Discalced Augustinian friar Vicente Mallol. This convent was originally called Santa Cruz but was given the name Convent of La Popa after it took the shape of a galley.
