Located in Normandy, France, the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial was established on the 8th of June 1944 by the U.S. First Army. Spread over 172.5 acres, the cemetery contains graves of more than 9,380 brave soldiers who fought during World War II. The memorial features a semi-circular colonnade with a loggia at the ends, each containing narratives and large maps of military operations. At the heart of the memorial, visitors can view the bronze Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves statue. The visitor centre highlights the D-Day timeline and offers a theatre regularly showing On Their Shoulders.
