Floating in the South Pacific Ocean, just off the coast of Viti Levu, lies Monuriki Island, affectionately dubbed "Cast Away Island" for its starring role in the eponymous film. Draped in a coral reef and embraced by crystalline waters, Monuriki emerges as a snorkeler's paradise and also includes volcanic rocks, lagoons, and several small beaches, including some white sand beaches. But it's more than just a coastal idyll. This island is a tapestry of lush greenery, a designated land reserve teeming with unique flora and fauna. Within its vibrant ecosystem, the endemic and critically endangered Fiji crested iguana finds its home alongside over 2,000 pairs of Wedge-tailed shearwaters. Monuriki's significance extends to serving as a vital nesting site for the critically endangered Hawksbill turtle.
