Parque Nacional Volcán Masaya, located near the city of Masaya in Nicaragua, is the country's first and largest national park. Situated just 20 kilometres south of the capital, Managua, this park is centred around the active Masaya Volcano. The park features a complex volcanic system with multiple craters, including the continuously active Santiago crater, which emits significant amounts of sulfur dioxide. Visitors can explore the park's diverse landscapes, from lush forests to barren volcanic terrain, and enjoy activities such as hiking, birdwatching, and night tours to observe the glowing lava. The park also offers educational exhibits on volcanic activity and its impact on the environment.
