Hermanus is renowned for its incredible land-based whale watching, and is the starting point for this marine safari. We’ll head out to one of the tiny villages about half an hour along the coast, where the very best spots await. Follow the clifftop paths and look straight down at the whales beneath you, particularly during calving season. Drop down into sheltered coves and explore the caves, perhaps take a swim or simply find a spot to relax and watch the whales right in front of you. Most days during whale season (May/June through to October/December) you won’t need to walk far to encounter these marine mammals, and there’s always the chance of spotting other sea creatures like dolphins, seals, and abundant birdlife.
