Place Vendôme is a square situated in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France, and is close to Tuileries Gardens and Église de la Madeleine. The original Vendôme Column, centre to the square, was erected by Napoleon I to honour the Battle of Austerlitz. It was torn down in 1871 but, subsequently, rebuilt and remains a main feature of the square today. A number of hotels surrounded the square, including The Ritz Paris.
