The Merkato Market in Addis Ababa is considered to the largest market in Africa. Situated in an open-air setting that goes on for kilometres, the market weaves in all directions and contains a labyrinth of alleyways. The vendors sell a large variety of products from fruit and vegetables, to spices, crafts, and jewellery. There are over 100 coffee vendors, and there is even a recycling market where visitors can purchase anything from sandals made out of old tires to coffee pots made from old Italian olive tins and other interesting paraphernalia.
