Nestled beneath a canopy of majestic fever trees and ancient baobabs, Kuthengo Camp enjoys an enviable setting on the edge of an open floodplain overlooking the Shire River in the heart of Liwonde National Park. With just five spacious safari tents, including a family suite, the camp offers an intimate and authentic safari experience, blending understated comfort with the sights and sounds of the African bush. Each en-suite tent features a deep bathtub, outdoor shower and private deck, where guests can relax as herds of waterbuck gather nearby in the soft evening light.
Days are filled with expertly guided safari experiences, from game drives in open-sided vehicles to immersive walking safaris accompanied by an experienced guide and armed National Park scout. During the Emerald Season, usually from late December through early April, boating safaris along Liwonde's tranquil lagoons offer a unique perspective of the park, bringing guests close to hippos, crocodiles and an abundance of birdlife while showcasing the rich diversity of this remarkable wilderness.
Modern safari tents which are all en-suite, each with a bathtub and an outdoor shower. The eco-friendly evening breeze air conditioning (state of the art and environment friendly cooling system for the bed within the mosquito net), adds to the comforts of this intimate camp. With all the usual comforts of a Robin Pope Safari camp, Kuthengo maintains a rustic charm, complemented by stunning views which are best appreciated from your private deck with a cold sundowner in hand, admiring the herds of waterbuck that frequent the camp area, milling about in the evening glow.

The Suite offers a main bedroom tent with an inter-leading lounge tent, providing the perfect place to unwind between safari activities. The en-suite bathroom, accessed from the main bedroom, features both a bathtub and an outdoor shower. An innovative, eco-friendly evening breeze cooling system keeps the bed comfortably cool beneath the mosquito net, ensuring a restful night's sleep.
With all the comforts synonymous with a Robin Pope Safaris camp, the Suite retains an authentic safari feel. From your private deck, enjoy uninterrupted views across the Shire River floodplain with a refreshing sundowner in hand. As evening falls, herds of waterbuck often wander through the camp, while the calls of fish eagles and hippos provide the soundtrack to another memorable day in Majete Wildlife Reserve.
