Lake Tuz is located in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The lake is fed by various rivers but does not have a natural outlet so evaporation results in it having salty water with high concentrations of sodium chloride and other salts. This unique ecosystem makes it home to many species of migratory birds including flamingos, pelicans, ibis, spoonbills, avocets and terns. The lake also supports many aquatic plants that are adapted to its salty waters such as sea lavender and glasswort.
