White Pearl Resorts at Ponta Mamoli is situated on the southern coast of Mozambique, accessible either by road via the South African border to the south, or by a combined flight/road transfer from Maputo. With its ocean frontage of more than 2km, pristine beach and untouched bush behind, White Pearl is an elegant refined beach resort quite unlike any other in Mozambique.
Each suite at White Pearl Resorts is air-conditioned and the epitome of contemporary beachside elegance with the interior spaces blending seamlessly into the outdoors. There is a large spacious bedroom with sitting area, bathroom with oval bath leading out to an outdoor shower. All have minibar, safe, complimentary wifi, tea/coffee facilities and fan. A spacious deck offers superb Indian Ocean views, sun loungers and your own plunge pool.
The six beach suites are positioned right behind the beach with their own private paths down to the beach. Hidden by the lush foliage, they are also the most private and the pools are heated. The 15 pool suites are on three levels and can involve some steep walking though beach buggies are on hand to ferry you back to your suite. We recommend either the beach suites or the back suites with their panoramic views of the bay. Some suites are also more private than others – we have our favourites!
The suites are so luxurious that the serene and uber-stylish guest areas at White Pearl often remain tranquil and underused with an array of quiet sitting areas, as well as a restaurant overlooking the ocean. There is a choice of two swimming pools: one is very protected next to the main bar with martini stools in the water. The other is an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, adjacent to the vibey stylish beach bar/restaurant.
Dine on quintessentially Mozambican dishes influenced by the country’s rich Portuguese history. Breakfast and dinner are in the main restaurant whilst lunch can be enjoyed there or at the Beach bar restaurant which serves light tapas meals throughout the day.
Enthusiastic divers and eager kayakers are in for a treat as the bay is known for its rich marine life, spectacular coral reefs and warm, clear waters. Activities at White Pearl revolve around this marine life with its own Dive Centre offering a range of scuba diving courses as well as snorkeling right at the lodge. They also offer snorkeling trips by boat to nearby reefs as well as a ‘Swim with the Dolphins’ boat excursion in search of dolphins, whale sharks and whales in season (July to November).
Land-based activities include horse riding and turtle tracking walks after sunset in the summer months (November to February) when they come to the beaches to nest. Relaxing massages and spa treatments in the privacy of your own suite are also an inviting possibility.
How to get to White Pearl Resorts – The lodge is accessed via one of two main ways. You can take a 1+ hour road transfer from the Kosi Bay border post which has secure parking for vehicles. Or you can enjoy a combined flight/road transfer from Maputo with its easy flight connections to Johannesburg. (There is also a road transfer from Maputo but this takes several hours and is not recommended.)

Venture by boat to the nearby pinnacle reef for a snorkeling trip, and you could swim with the Bottlenose Dolphins that regularly glide through these waters – a sublime experience you won’t easily forget. From July to November each year, you may encounter the majestic Humpback whales in their natural habitat as they visit us on their annual migration. Whale watching is conducted from the comfort of our snorkeling boat as we observe the whales blowing, breaching, lob tailing and playing. Later in the season, you may encounter their newborns too!

Our resort is home to one of the richest turtle nesting sites in southern Mozambique. Between November and February each year, guests have the opportunity to witness an extraordinary feat of nature first-hand. Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtles head to this stretch of coast to lay their eggs, and, a few weeks later, the hatchlings make their first-ever voyage to the ocean. The resort has partnered with the Southern Mozambique Marine Turtle Nesting Monitoring, Tagging & Conservation Programme to monitor and protect these remarkable creatures.
