Established in 1856 by P.M Tretyakov, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow houses over 1300 works of Russian art from the 11th to the early 20th century. Visitors to the gallery can explore the expansive displays featuring pre-Mongolian icons and mosaics, landscapes, portraits, paintings and masterpieces by artists such as Andrei Rublev, Alexander Ivanov, I.E Repin and many more. Group tours are available with translators and should be booked in advance. The gallery features a shop where visitors can buy gifts and keepsakes of their visit. The Tretyakov Gallery is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays from 10:00 till 18:00, and Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 till 21:00.
