Centre ValBio’s campus is located 7 kilometers west of Ranomafana Village. It was created in 2003 by Professor Patricia Wright to help both indigenous people and the international community to better understand the value of conservation in Madagascar and around the world through research, training and education. It encourages responsible use of natural resources in order to promote sustainable development in Madagascar.

CVB’s mission has three main objectives:
• To promote world-class research in one of the world’s most biologically diverse and unique ecosystems;
• To encourage environmental conservation by developing ecologically sustainable economic development programs with local villages;
• To provide the local villagers with the knowledge and tools to improve their quality of life through projects focused on sanitation, diet, and education, and ultimately reduce poverty in the area.

For scientific tourists and visitors, guided tours and visits to Centre ValBio's campus, green center in town and projects are available. Group visits can be arranged in advance and include PowerPoint presentations on CVB's work in addition to guided tours or hand’s on school or village visits.
