Located on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Verbania, the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto was created by Captain McEacharn in 1931. The gardens cover an area of 16 hectares and are home to over 3000 species including water lilies, a dahlia maze, Davidia involucrata or "Dove Tree", a pond of majestic lotus flowers, the rare Dicksonia Antarctica, and many others. Visitors to the gardens can also enjoy exploring the herbarium and the mausoleum chapel. A cafe and bistro are available in the gardens for those looking for a bite to eat or a refreshing drink during their time exploring the wonders of the gardens.
