The Donauinsel is a long and narrow artificial island that rests between the Danube river and the channel Neue Donau in central Vienna, Austria. This unique island spans over 21 kilometres in length and is between 70–210 metres wide, and can be easily reached from the city centre via the subway. It is host to multiple recreational sites, including flat beaches with bathing sites, a fun-filled waterpark and an expansive network of hiking, cycling and skating trails.
