A 19th-century building initially constructed as a horse stable for the local post office, then later renovated in 1971 as a tyre factory, Hundertwasserhaus is an artfully designed and colourfully decorated architectural attraction by eminent visual artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and architect Joseph Krawina. The building's roof is densely carpeted by a forest of trees that stretch up to 15 metres and houses many birds. Hundertwasserhaus currently serves as an apartment building, so entry is not allowed, however, visitors are free to admire the shapes, colours and artistic style typically associated with Friedensreich Hundertwasser at Hundertwasser Village directly opposite the building. This small bazaar bustles with various small shops, snack outlets, souvenir stalls and a central bar.
