The Okonjima Game Reserve in the Omboroko Mountains is the fund-raising arm of the famous AfriCat Foundation, non-profit organisation, committed to long-term conservation of Namibia's large carnivores, especially big cats. Visitors staying here learn a great deal about leopard and cheetah, and can view them at close range in their natural habitat, knowing that their visit is not only enjoyable but supports the conservation work. Perhaps track leopards in the rehabilitation area, radio-track cheetah on foot or visit the cheetah project. After dinner you can visit the hide to spot night creatures like caracal, porcupine or honey-badgers. The fascinating Bushman walking trail is also highly recommended, as is simply relaxing by the pool.

Okonjima Bush Camp offers 8 well-spaced, and therefore secluded, chalets on the edge of a wilderness area. Each circular room is attractively decorated with a cosy seating area with day bed and mini-bar, a bedroom with views over the grasslands and behind the bedroom area is the dressing area and bathroom with shower and enclosed loo.The decor is a combination of earthy, ochre walls and khaki-green canvas, under a thatched roof.
