Discover the city center of Johannesburg; whose geometrical design and high skyscrapers irresistibly bring Manhattan Island to mind.

You will then visit the inspiring Apartheid Museum dedicated to recounting the history of the rise and fall of Apartheid in 20th century South Africa. The exhibits are from film footage, photographs, text panels and artefacts illustrating the events and human stories of Apartheid.

No visit to the city of Johannesburg is complete without a trip into its largest and most vibrant township, Soweto. It's home to more than 1.2-million South Africans and some of the most significant historical events in South Africa took place here. There are several short stops along the route and when the trip is complete it becomes clear how each stop ties into the theme of freedom, and how through the sacrifices of many of Soweto’s inhabitants, the struggle against apartheid was won. You will walk in the footsteps of the South African legend Nelson Mandela, in Vilakazi Street. Enter the Mandela House, now a museum, where he and his family used to live. Just down the road lies the house where Desmond Tutu lived. In this same street you will encounter the eclectic atmosphere that emanates from the markets and memorabilia stands.
