Oldenburg Vineyards is located just outside of Stellenbosch in a little valley called Banghoek “Scary Corner”. Surrounded by towering mountains, which creates an amphitheater feel, this valley was named Banghoek, due to the many leopards who roamed the area in the past. Oldenburg is a relatively new estate and was established by Adrian Vanderspuy in 2003 after he returned to South Africa to cultivate this vineyard and restore it to its former glory. The first harvest was produced in 2007 and their first Syrah was named “Joshua” after their son who celebrated his 6th birthday on the first ever harvest day. Oldenburg is well known for supreme wines who has won many awards throughout the last 13-years while in operation.
