Roam Private Game Reserve is located on 5000 hectares of malaria-free scrubveld in the Great Karoo, an ancient and endless semi-desert landscape covering 400,000 square kilometres in its entirety.
The focus at Roam is on eco-tourism and providing visitors with the opportunity to experience the remote wilderness of the Western Cape's Karoo region. The team at Roam have many conservation initiatives focusing on rewilding the Great Karoo. Knowledgeable guides will take you on a once in a lifetime adventure tracking wild cheetah on foot through this vast and picturesque landscape.
Other notable species that can be spotted on wilderness walks and guided game drives include giraffe, buffalo, bat eared fox, zebra, kudu, springbok, gemsbok, ostrich, eland, meerkats and over 200 species of bird. You are encouraged to get involved in the conservation aspect of a safari, and enjoy activities such as mountain biking, sundowners and stargazing.
There are two accommodation options to choose from, each catering for a different type of guest. These include: Roam Explorer Camp (rustic) and Roam Safari Lodge (luxury).

There are 4 twin/double rooms with en suite bathrooms and showers. For guests seeking something extra luxurious there is also a suite with a King size bed, and en suite bathroom with a free standing Victorian bath.
All rooms come complete with the basic bathroom amenities. Air con can be found in each of the rooms, which is ideal for the hot summer months.
There is 3g reception in the rooms and throughout the lodge making it easy to connect during your stay.
Rooms are spacious with plenty of storage space, desk and seating areas.
Roam Explorer Camp can accommodate 10 people in a twin bed configuration in 6 tents. Each tent has stretcher beds fully kitted out with comfortable linen and soft-glow lanterns for additional light.
Tents have their own wooden deck complete with camping chairs for relaxation. They are interlinked via cleared pathways and easily accessible from the main area.
There is a central flush toilet and bucket shower set apart from the main camp, catering for men and women.

The safari experience is varied - each camp offers something different. Game Drives and walks are included in your stay at Roam Explorer Camp and Roam Safari Lodge.
The focus at Roam is to restore and conserve the delicate biome of the area; and to rehabilitate a variety of wildlife that can survive in the Great Karoo's arid conditions. This includes our buffalo and cheetah introduction into the our 5000 hectares of wilderness.
The safari experience varies according to camp. The exclusive Roam Manor House is a self-catering experience in a section of the reserve that is safe for running, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. Walks, game drives and other conservation experiences come at an extra cost. Sundowners and stargazing can be done at any of the accommodation options.
