Today you enjoy a tour of the Cape Winelands for a leisurely exploration of the historic towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as wine tasting at local wine estates. The majestic scenery of the winelands is unparalleled so even if you don't drink wine, the countryside and history make it well worth the visit.

A combination of the favourable effects of the two major ocean currents meeting off the Cape makes the climate in the area perfect for the acres of vineyards. The stunning backdrop of the mountains, the tree-lined streets and the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads all blend in tranquil harmony.

Depending on which wine estates you visit, the order of the tour will vary so the description below is a guide only. You head to one of the wine estates. Here is the perfect opportunity to experience the rich historical and architectural traditions of the region. After a tour through their cellars, there's a chance to sample some of their local wines as well as perhaps a cheese tasting. Next you lead to the picturesque village of Franschhoek which is set in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountain. Enjoy some of its many interesting shops and boutiques and visit a second wine estate for some more wine tasting.

Lunch (for your own account) will be at one of the spectacular award-winning winelands restaurants. After lunch, you head to Stellenbosch. It is easy to see why Simon Van Der Stel decided to build a village in such an idyllic spot. The Cape Dutch architecture along the oak-lined streets and the many alfresco cafes give Stellenbosch a charm that will not be quickly forgotten. You return to Cape Town in the late afternoon. This tour does not take place on Sunday.
