MalaMala Game Reserve consistently produces the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator! The Safari Industry's blueprint to the luxury photographic safari, MalaMala has been custodian of this massive thriving tract of land since 1927.
MalaMala Game Reserve is one of the largest private Game Reserves in South Africa. Comprising 13 300 ha (33 000 acres), MalaMala shares a 19 km (12 mile) unfenced border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, and lies strategically sandwiched between the National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve.
Every aspect of MalaMala Camp is designed to appreciate and enjoy the view of the surrounding wilds. Pathways wind their way along the perimeter of the camp to reveal individual ochre colored units tucked into the greenery which flanks the Sand River. Massive trees and rolling green lawns are filled with birdsong, with the occasional antelope or elephant which seeks the succulence of greenery.

Delicious dinners are cooked & served around the fire in the traditional reed "boma".
Our guides take you on unforgettable explorations across the wildest paths of this vast, ancient land. Guides read the bush in real time. Tracks in the sand, alarm calls from the trees, birds gathering to circle above a kill. Every detail adds context to the story unfolding around you.
Twice-daily, your guide will take you on exhilarating excursions in comfortable, robust 4x4 vehicles. At times, these drives include sensitive off-road driving to capture up-close interactions. Sightings are approached with patience and strict protocols, keeping wildlife relaxed and allowing moments to unfold naturally
The perspective of the bush is entirely different to that of a vehicle, and guests will learn to read the signs of the wild, and perhaps come into close contact with the different animal species on the reserve. All walking safari's take place at the Guide's discretion.
Dinners are a traditional affair.
Breakfasts and lunches are served on the deck overlooking the Sand River, or in the air conditioned dining room.
Dinners are served under the stars inside a reed "Boma" and around a fire.
Our air-conditioned indoor dining room is perfect for escaping those balmy Summer days.
With a varied combination of delicious global favourites and Pan-African dishes on offer throughout the day, meals are skilfully paired with a surprising variety of top wines from our cellar.
