Satemwa Tea & Coffee Estate is a 3rd generation family-owned tea and coffee estate situated in the Shire Highlands of Southern Malawi. For nearly 100 years, Satemwa has been producing specialty white, green, dark and black teas, as well as micro lots of green coffee beans. In 1923, Maclean Kay decided not to go back to Scotland after he laid eyes on the property, and Huntingdon House was built in the mid 1930s. Guests are accommodated in five unique suites with superb bathrooms featuring clawed bath tubs, separate showers, bath robes, and wonderful bamboo cotton blend towels. The majority of the rooms have king size beds with 100% cotton linen and a selection of pillows to ensure a good night's sleep. The property also offers a self-catering option in the form of Chawani Bungalow, a historic tea planters' bungalow. Situated on the slopes of Thyolo Mountain, this informal retreat sleeps 10 people in 4 bedrooms and offers panoramic views as well as a small swimming pool in the manicured garden.
