One of the most popular attractions in Knysna is the Featherbed Nature Reserve, which can only be reached by ferry, as part of the Featherbed Tour.
This privately owned Nature Reserve occupies 150 hectares on the Western Head of the Knysna Heads. Visitors arrive at the reserve by ferry and are then taken on a guided 4x4 ride to the top of the headland, allowing for spectacular views across the reserve. You can then choose to drive back down with the 4x4, or hike the 2.2km route down through Milkwood Forests and on to a track along the coast.
Once back at the Forest Restaurant, a buffet luncheon is served beneath a canopy of Milkwood trees on the edge of the lagoon.
