Spanning the Rio Grande Gorge, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is also known as the Gorge Bridge or the High Bridge. The bridge was started in 1963 and dedicated in 1965. The steel deck-arch bridge is the tenth-highest bridge in America, and it is part of US Route 64. The bridge was awarded "Most Beautiful Bridge" in the "Long Span" category by the American Institute of Steel Construction in 1966, and in 2012 the bridge was restored during a year-long project where a new concrete surface was laid, and new sidewalks, ramps, gutters, and curbs were built.
