Nestled amid an exquisite landscape of rolling hills, forests and bubbling streams, the Wli Waterfalls is the highest waterfall in Ghana and the tallest in West Africa. The falls is locally known as Agumatsa waterfalls and measures about 143 metres from the upper fall to the plunge pool below it. A walk from the Visitor Centre through the cool shades of the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary will lead visitors to the lower waterfalls. The trail also offers visitors a chance to see a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, birds, monkeys and baboons. The isolated upper falls is a very strenuous hike through a tiring mountain-climbing exercise, which takes about two hours. There are large pools at the base of both falls, where visitors can enjoy a swim or stand directly under the falling water. The water in the pool is cold, and it flows into the Agumatsa River, which forms the river system within the forest. Here, visitors can enjoy the sheer grandeur, height, and mesmerising beauty of the waterfall and the sereneness of the environment.
