West Coast National Park, located a short distance inland from Saldanha Bay, is not only a paradise for birds, but also for all who visit it. The brilliant blue waters of the Langebaan Lagoon, unspoilt golden beaches, sheltered islands and salt marshes form the surroundings, attracting migrant waders from the north. In springtime, rainbow-coloured flowers beautify the park’s sandy carpet while antelopes gather in the unique Postberg section. It is a bird-watching paradise, with over 300 recorded avian species, while visitors can also enjoy cycling, hiking, picnicking, whale watching (August to November), game-viewing, kayaking and other water sports.
