The focus is the darting and collaring of two buffalo cows — essential work that supports research into herd dynamics, movement patterns, and overall ecosystem health.

Arrive at the rendezvous point on the reserve for a full safety briefing and final preparations. The darting will be conducted from a vehicle, with the assistance of a drone and potentially a helicopter, depending on the terrain and the behaviour of the herd.

Once the buffalo are safely immobilised, you will have the rare opportunity to disembark and join the wildlife veterinarian on the ground. Guests can participate in vital monitoring tasks and assist with the procedures — a truly hands-on conservation experience. There will also be time to capture those unforgettable photographs once the team confirms everything is stable.

When the operation is complete, the veterinarian will reverse the immobilisation drugs. You will observe from a secure distance as the buffalo regain their strength and move off — hopefully in the opposite direction!
