Isabela Island's Tortoise Breeding Center is a conservation centre located close to the town of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island, Ecuador. The centre preserves the Galapagos Giant Tortoise which is indigenous to the island and protects them from being poached by locals. These giant tortoises are one of the largest reptiles in the world, weighing over eight hundred pounds. Housing over 300 tortoises, the centre also includes hatcheries and nurseries for breeding, which tourists will have the opportunity to observe.
