Hikers of all levels will find that the Silvermine section of Table Mountain National Park has much to offer for a picnic with a difference. The trails along the escarpment looking down over the entire city of Cape Town provide some wonderful scrambles over bizarre rock formations and depending on your energy levels, some pretty good hikes to build your appetite. In the bowl of the valley lies a freshwater dam, perfect for cooling off during the heat of summer. In winter it’s a sheltered spot to unpack a gourmet picnic and enjoy the peace of the surrounding mountains.
