The Khwai Private Reserve is a 200,000-hectare private reserve situated between Chobe National Park and the Moremi Game Reserve. As a result, there is a significant influx of wildlife from these two areas, and the Khwai River's banks are particularly attractive to many animals.

The diverse landscape features Mopane and acacia forests, seasonal waterholes, large floodplains, and waterways that meander through the terrain from the Khwai River.

The wildlife in the Khwai Private Reserve is abundant, with large herds of elephants, sable and roan antelopes, and a healthy population of predators, including leopards, lions, cheetahs, and wild dogs. Buffalos are also commonly seen, migrating north during the rainy season to graze on the lush Mopane grass, then returning south to the river in June.
