The Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena, Italy was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The shell-shaped piazza is divided into nine sections to commemorate the Nove Signori that governed the city in the 13th century. Tourists can stroll through the piazza, visit the Palazzo Pubblico, the Torre del Mangia and the Fonte Gaia. In addition to viewing the surrounding buildings, visitors can enjoy various events offered such as the Palio which is a horse racing event that takes place twice a year.
