Nordfjord is a Norwegian region in the western part of the country, spreading out from the Nordfjorden. Characterised by captivating landscapes of towering mountains, massive glaciers, deep lakes and gorgeous woodlands, as well as an enthralling coastline of vast, white beaches, the area is a favourite among nature lovers, thrill seekers and photographers. With an excellent port, it is also a popular cruise destination. Some of the top natural attractions include the jaw-dropping Briksdal Glacier; Hornindalsvatnet, Europe’s deepest lake; and Loen, where visitors can find one of the steepest cable cars in the world. The region is not short of historic attractions either - highlights include the Folk Museum, and Nordfjordeid’s full-size replica of the Myklebust, the largest known Viking ship in the country.
