Founded in 1685, Boschendal is one of the oldest farms in South Africa. For centuries, this beautiful and much-loved estate has been a source of great wines, wholesome produce and happy memories.

This makes Boshendal the perfect place to indulge your passion for wine and chocolate. The Boschendal Chocolate Experience at the Cellar Door wine tasting centre offers you a tasting like no other - a range of artisanal chocolates paired with selected wines.

Chocolates tend to coat the tongue, which means they are not an ideal match with wine. However, Boschendal’s chocolatiers have found that West African cocoa melts on the tongue, leaving no coating.

Using this chocolate, they have developed exclusive recipes with a range of flavours including apricot, lime, orange marmalade, spicy Glühwein and lemon cream, to complement the 1685 range of Boschendal wines.

Chocolate is paired with:

1. Boschendal 1685 Sauvignon Blanc - the chocolate enriches the wine’s tropical fruit flavours.
2. Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay - the white, velvety chocolate for this pairing enhances the flavour profile of citrus and creamy vanilla.
3. Boschendal 1685 Shiraz - the chocolate produces a soft finish with a mix of fruit and spices including cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon.
4. Boschendal Vin D’or - the chocolatiers stretched their creative powers to craft a chocolate which perfectly matches this sweet wine from Boschendal’s Reserve Collection.
