Situated 4 kilometres from the city center of Nairobi, Kenya, the Carnivore is considered Africa's Greatest "Beast of a Feast" Experience. Whole joints of meat - lamb, pork rump of beef, sirloin, chicken and including ostrich, crocodile and camel - are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge, charcoal pit that dominates the entrance to the restaurant. A sizzling cast-iron plate is placed in front of each guest as an army of carvers move table to table, swords laden, carving onto the hot plates. Delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces, stacked onto a double-storey revolving tray at the centre of the table, complement this fixed price feast that includes soup, a selection of desserts and Kenyan coffee. Set in attractive tropical gardens, the service and the décor are outstanding.
Adjoining the main restaurant of Carnivore is the Simba Saloon - a vibrant informal indoor/outdoor restaurant with lighter fare that incorporates a children's playground. At night it is Nairobi's most popular club, catering for fans of contemporary African music and hosting some of Africa's best musicians as well as many international artists.
