The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is a large butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in the southern hemisphere. Located in the heart of Kuranda, only a short walk away from Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Railway station, the sanctuary is home to over 2000 butterflies from a variety of species, all of which are bred in the breeding laboratory. The butterflies include the local rain forest species, the electric blue Ulysses, the majestic green and yellow Cairns Birdwing and the Monarch butterfly. The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary offers a range of experiences for the whole family, from educational immersive exhibits to guided tours through the aviary and breeding laboratory.
