Located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Wat Chedi Luang temple is one of the oldest and biggest temples in the district. Buddhists and ancient royal families used the temple as a religious sanctionary as well as a place to live. The cities first pillar, erected by the first king of the area is on display in the temple, however, only men are permitted to view it. Guests can view the architecture of the temple as well as an ancient tree that grows near the entrance of the temple. Thai legend states that if this tree is to fall that a great catastrophe would occur. Many guests take pictures with the tree as it is a symbol of good fortune.
