Built in 1385, the Wat Phra Singh is one of the oldest temples in Chang Rai. The temple is built in the Lanna-style and its oldest surviving buildings are a chapel containing a footprint of the Buddha, an ordination hall, the monks living quarters, a sanctuary, and a gold-plated chedi (hemispherical structure containing relics used as a place of meditation). The Phra Sihing Buddha image was once enshrined in this temple and several copies of the image can be found in various locations in and around the temple. An information board near the entrance explains some of the temple’s history. The temple grounds are open daily from 6 am until 5 pm. There is no admission fee.
