The Escambray Mountains, situated in central Cuba, span the provinces of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, and Sancti SpĂritus, offering dramatic landscapes and rich biodiversity. Visitors can trek through forested trails, discover waterfalls, and admire sweeping views from Pico San Juan, the highest peak at 1,140 metres. The range is divided by the Agabama River into two sections, with the Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve providing caves, rivers, and canyons for exploration. Notably, the mountains are historically significant as the site of the Escambray rebellion, adding cultural depth to their natural beauty and making them a compelling destination for travellers.
