Sandwiched between the slopes of the Tunupa Volcano and the breathtakingly beautiful Salar de Uyuni, Coquesa is a remote village in the Tahua Municipality in the Potosí Department of Bolivia. This sleepy small town rests on the shores of the Uyuni Salt Flats, the world’s largest and most spectacular salt flat and is an ancient settlement where several artefacts including ceramic, gold and copper have been found near in the ruined villages and centuries-old burial grounds. It serves as an excellent starting point from which to hike the dramatic Tunupa Volcano and discover the unique landscape of the awe-inspiring Salar de Uyuni.
