Shinjuku is a ward of the city of Tokyo with the busiest railway station in the world right in the heart of it. More than two million people per day pass through Shinjuku station via the dozen or so railway and subway lines and a bus station which is conveniently located on top of the station, while subterranean malls, department stores, electronics stores, music shops as well as restaurants and bars surround the station.

The twin towers of the Metropolitan Government Office and some of the tallest buildings in Tokyo, together with a number of hotels stand to the west of the station while the nightlife, dining and entertainment district lies to the east.
