The Victoria Falls National Park is located on the Zimbabwean side of the border and boasts beautiful hiking trails, a wealth of wildlife and spectacular views of ‘The Smoke That Thunders’, as local people call the falls. Permeated by the fine mist that rises from the falls as they plummet 100 metres into the gorge below, the reserve encompasses 23 square kilometres of verdant rainforest, where delicate ferns, tangled monkey vines, tropical palms and mahogany trees thrive in the moist environment. Resident game species include white rhinos, elephants, buffalos and antelope, as well as hippos and crocodiles that lurk in the rivers and pools.
