The Vlaming Head lighthouse is situated on Australia’s North West Cape about 17 km from the town of Exmouth. The lighthouse was built in 1912 after the SS Mildura was wrecked on a nearby reef during a cyclone in 1907. The wreck can be seen from the shore at low tide. The lighthouse operated until 1969 when a new light was mounted at Point Murat. During the migration season, humpback whales may also be sighted and the Ningaloo Reef can also be seen from here.
