DISCOVER THE JEWEL OF THE NORTHERN KRUGER
Cantilevered dramatically off a cliff with commanding views of the valley below, The Outpost is a masterpiece of contemporary lodge design. Guests are accommodated in 12 luxurious, free-standing spaces perched along the ridgeline, each with state-of the-art retractable, remote-controlled screens offering 180º of uninterrupted views. The eight-sleeper Eco Luxe Pel’s Post, which sits nearby in a tranquil location closer to the riverbank, shares a similar architectural language and guest experience but on a more intimate scale.
The Pafuri Triangle – a wedge of land that lies between the Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers in the northernmost section of the Kruger National Park – is famed for its rugged natural beauty and astonishing plant, bird and animal life. In fact, 80% of the Park’s biodiversity can be found in the 26,500ha private concession that unfolds through vast alluvial floodplains, deep sandstone gorges, tracts of sandveld studded with ancient baobabs and the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fever tree forest. It is a vast and remote wilderness just waiting to be explored.
Set lower on the rocky ridge, flanking the main lodge, our Bush View Spaces feel cool and contemporary with mesmerising views of the wilderness below.
These free-standing units are open to the elements on three sides, with state-of the-art retractable, remote-controlled screens in place of walls. They are furnished with a king-sized bed draped in mosquito nets and feature a comfortable daybed, an open-plan bathroom with indoor/outdoor shower and oversized bathtub, a well-stocked mini bar and a generous balcony for taking in the view.

The Makuleke Private Concession, spanning a vast 26,500 hectares, is know as the Eden of Kruger. Pafuri, where this sanctuary resides, boasts a remarkable 80% of the biodiversity found in the expansive Kruger National Park. Although you can and most likely will see members of the big 5 while staying here, it is the bird life, the history and the landscape that captures our guests’ attention.
Here, we specialize in the art of the "slow safari," an immersive journey through the true African wilderness, where you'll encounter not only the Big 5 but also the enchanting Little 5 and everything in between. This region is renowned for hosting some of the largest herds of buffalo and elephant in South Africa, a testament to its fertile grounds nourished by the convergence of three rivers in the Pafuri Triangle. This nutrient-rich soil is a haven for an array of wildlife, from graceful impalas, elusive nyala, and majestic eland to the iconic wildebeests. The Makuleke Private Concession is a gateway to igniting moments of discovery that awaken new passions and deepen your connection to the wild.
Immerse yourself in the remote and untouched Makuleke Private Concession. At The Outpost, we hone deeper into a more authentic African safari experience.
