The Generalife, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, was a palace used by Muslim kings as a place of rest. The entrance of the Generalife Palace has an undoubted rural character to it rather than a palatial enclosure. Upon entry, there are two courtyards, which are located on different levels. The entrance to the palace itself is a small door with marble elements and tiled lintel. The interior of the property consists of a variety of gardens and buildings, such as the Romantic Lookout, a Neo-Gothic building and the Paseo De Las Adelfas, a long pathway covered by a canopy of oleanders. The property gardens are filled with beautiful flowers, making for a tranquil walk along the grounds.
